Shrewsbury Town have signed Burnley forward Kian McMahon-Brown on a season-long loan.

The 18-year-old was named academy player of last season at Turf Moor after scoring 11 goals for the Clarets' Under-21 side.

McMahon-Brown, who represented the Republic of Ireland at the Under-17 World Cup last year, signed a two-year deal with the Championship side this summer.

"Kian is a really exciting player," Shrewsbury manager Gavin Cowan told the club website. "He's young, this is his first loan, but he's a player with a lot of potential and a really high ceiling.

"Burnley have very high hopes for him - they see him as a player with a bright future.

"He gives us versatility as well because he can play as a nine, but he can also drop into that 10 position."
