In the perfect showing of how fast things can change in the big leagues, the Milwaukee Brewers bounced back from a 17-3 defeat to the Chicago Cubs on Monday with a 9-4 victory on Tuesday to even up the three-game series to start the week. The Brewers chose to conserve their bullpen on Monday and it worked wonders the following day, as their relief corps combined to throw 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball to seal the victory for Milwaukee — moving them to 86-53 on the season.
The Brewers’ win on Tuesday wasn’t smooth sailing from the start. They fell down by three runs to the Cubs, which boasted MLB’s best offense in the calendar month of August, but they took control of the game in the sixth inning after scoring five runs over a two-inning stretch, giving them an advantage they won’t relinquish.
It was reliever Antonio Senzatela who was on the mound for the Brewers at the time they took the lead, so it was him who ended up taking the victory even though he allowed an earned run in his inning of work. In so doing, he earned his 10th victory of 2026 despite not starting a single game.

Considering how much bullpen use has changed over the years, Senzatela’s feat is nothing new. As pointed out by Jon Morosi of MLB Network, since 2022, at least one reliever has won 10 games without making a single start.
In 2022, it was Adam Cimber who accomplished the feat for the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2023, Colin Poche and Mike Baumann joined the 10-win, no-start club. The following year, it was Hector Neris who made his mark, and then in 2025, both Adrian Morejon and Edwin Uceta notched this feat as well.
Senzatela has remade himself into a solid middle relief pitcher, and he even earned nine of his wins this year with the Colorado Rockies (the Brewers acquired him at the trade deadline). This is now the third season of his career in which he’s won at least 10 games, and this is quite a bounce back from last year when he went 4-15.
