Waverly: Kaylin Twedt scored tiebreaking goal off an assist from Skyler Rose with 18:54 remaining. Gianna Soprano scored first-half goal off Andraya Hoey assist, and Ryleigh Judson scored off Lilliana Schoonover assist to give Wolverines a 2-0 lead with 32:32 remaining in first half. Taylin Gonzalez 15 saves.
Owego: Ashlyn Dalton 2 goals, including tying score on a penalty kick with 35:43 to go in second half.
Said Waverly coach Tara Hogan: "First games of the season are always rocky, especially when you don't have a solidified starting lineup. We learned a lot from our scrimmages (Monday) and made a lot of adjustments off that feedback.
"Despite the awful humidity, the girls played well. Our starting defensive line (Sophia Dorsey, Makenzie Olmsted and Hannah Carpenter) did a phenomenal job."
