UNC basketball to get visit from a top 2028 recruit

The 2026-27 college basketball season is still a few months away but the anticipation for North Carolina is high.

With this being the start of a new era, the Tar Heels are going into the first year under new head coach Michael Malone and his staff. UNC had an early exit in the NCAA Tournament, blowing a big lead to VCU which led to the firing of Hubert Davis. With Malone taking over, future recruiting classes are very important for the Tar Heels.

Over the weekend, UNC received some good news regarding a prospect high on their list.

Five-star combo guard Brady Pettigrew is one of North Carolina's top targets in the 2028 class. UNC offered him over the summer, and now they are getting him on campus for a visit.

Pettigrew released a list of visits earlier in August that didn't include North Carolina. But that changed over the weekend as he has now set additional visits to UNC, BYU and Kentucky:

Pettigrew will now be on North Carolina's campus the weekend of October 9th. Before that, he will be at Illinois on October 2nd and then Kentucky on October 23rd.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Pettigrew hails from Bolingbrook, Illinois. He's ranked No. 14 nationally, No. 1 combo guard and the No.1 player in the state of Illinois per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
