Manchester United have made swift progress over a possible deadline day deal for Leicester City youngster Louis Page.

The highly-rated 18-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign even as the former Premier League winners were relegated from the Championship last season.

The teenage midfielder could now move to Old Trafford for a fee of more than £10m after talks between the two clubs advanced quickly ahead of the transfer window closing.

It is not clear if Page will be part of the Leicester squad for the League One encounter with Plymouth at the King Power Stadium tonight.

Page has been capped at U17, U18 and U20 level by England, and is the son of former professional footballer Don Page.

Manchester United have already strengthened significantly in midfield this summer, with Carlos Baleba, Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos brought in to bolster the options available to Michael Carrick.
