German international Jamal Musiala is close to his comeback at Bayern Munich and may even feature in Wednesday's German Cup match at third division Osnabrück, coach Vincent Kompany has said.
Musiala collapsed due to absence seizures in two pre-season friendlies and had to sit out the start to the season while his medication was adjusted.
Kompany said on Tuesday that there will be talks with Musiala and doctors before a decision whether Musiala can return on Wednesday, in Saturday's Bundesliga match at Schalke or next week in the Champions League against Bodø/Glimt.
"He's trained very well. It's a question of choosing the right moment; whether that's tomorrow, at the weekend or next week, I can't yet say," Kompany.
Kompany added that forward Serge Gnabry is also about to return from a thigh muscle injury he sustained in spring and made him miss the World Cup, but not yet for the Cup game.
Jonas Urbig will meanwhile be in goal for the title holders on Wednesday instead of Manuel Neuer as the youngster continues to get playing time as Neuer's career winds down.
"We've already put an incredible amount of trust in Jonas. He's played in many important matches, such as the cup final. These are milestones that show he can perform in big games," Kompany said.
Bayern are big favourites against Osnabrück but Kompany said they won't underestimate them.
"These matches are usually tough. That's part and parcel of the cup competition. You have to be mentally prepared for a real battle," he said.
"When we're on form, things often click. But it always depends on how quickly you can find the spaces and how dangerous they can become," he said.
The overall goal is however clear for the domestic double winners.
"Once you've been in the final, you always want to get there again. Our opponents were Stuttgart; they'd reached the final twice in a row. We want to achieve that now too," Kompany said.
