Red Bull F1 Lines Up McLaren-Bound Lambiase’s Replacement for 2027

British engineer Tom McCullough has joined Red Bull Racing from F1 2027 season, as the team looks to replace the current senior member.

Having served Aston Martin in different guises for a long period from 2014 until 2025, McCullough has decided to join Red Bull Racing as its new Head of Racing. The British engineer will start work from beginning of the 2027 F1 season, potentially replacing another senior member.

With Gianpiero Lambiase set for a McLaren move in late 2027 to early 2028, Red Bull has filled up its position with McCullough, who has whole world of experience. The 50-years old started his F1 career with Williams back in 2002 and worked for a decade until 2012.

He left Williams to join Sauber but only completed a year before joining Force India in 2014. He stayed through the changes from Sahara Force India to Racing Point to Aston Martin until last year. With Mike Krack assuming most of his roles, McCullough moved to more factory role.

His last update put him as a Performance Director at Aston Martin Performance Technologies. But it looks like he has since left the role to probably complete its gardening leave to join Red Bull from 2027 F1 season onward. He has big shoes to fill in at Milton Keynes.

The move was announced in the lead-up to F1 Italian GP. “We’re delighted to welcome Tom to the Team at the beginning of 2027 and look forward to the wealth of experience and expertise he will bring to the role,” said Red Bull in a small statement.

While McCullough takes up Lambiase’s larger role, Tom Hart is likely to be Max Verstappen’s race engineer. The Dutchman was widely speculated to leave Red Bull and follow Lambiase at McLaren, but the stories were way off the mark, especially after the four-time champion inked a new long-term deal to stay at Milton Keynes until 2030 season.
