Julia Polastri met the media Saturday after her win over Xiong Jing Nan at UFC Fight Night 286.

Polastri (15-6 MMA, 3-3 UFC) picked up one of the sickest stoppages of the night when she knocked out Nan (19-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) with a head kick late in the first round at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in China.

Polastri now has two stoppage wins in less than a year, but she was ineligible for performance or finish bonuses because she came in heavy for the strawweight fight.

“I was already thinking about the KO in this fight, but the way that it came was unbelievable. … I was ready for a war tonight. I was thinking maybe both of us would go to the hospital. I know she’s a tough girl and has all her history, but I was surprisingly calm before the fight. Inside of me, I knew I’d end the fight.”

“I think that was the secret for me to do what I did – I wasn’t nervous. I was totally calm because I wasn’t thinking about everyone who was seeing me. I was just thinking how I want to be proud of me when I get out of the cage.”
