The Chicago Cubs are trying to stay alive in the NL Central race and also maintain their Wild Card spot at the very least. While the pitching has been a question mark even after the aggressive deadline, the Cubs have been in good shape thanks to one player.

Pete Crow-Armstrong isn't just in the MVP conversation; he's likely taken full control of the lead heading into the final month of the season. His red-hot August, which saw him hit 14 total homers, including five in the last two games, has been a big help.

That torrid August from PCA didn't just help him in the MVP race against Shohei Ohtani; it also made some MLB history that, as Sarah Langs highlighted on Twitter/x, hasn't been seen in 32 years.

"Pete Crow-Armstrong's 14 homers in August are the most by a player at age 24 or younger in a calendar month since Ken Griffey Jr. hit 15 in May 1994," Langs shared.

Whenever someone can be compared to Ken Griffey Jr., it's typically a great thing. That's exactly the case here with Crow-Armstrong.

He's now the most recent player aged 24 or younger to hit at least 14 homers in a single month, as he hit 14 this August, while Griffey hit 15 back in May of 1994.

It's been 32 years since MLB has seen such a young player put on such an impressive show in one month. But that's not the only MLB legend Crow-Armstrong has joined with this impressive month of August.

Langs also shared the 11 players Crow-Armstrong has joined in MLB history with "14+ home runs in at least 1 calendar month before turning 25."

Aside from Griffey, the other 10 are Mark McGwire, Bob Horner, Reggie Jackson, Harmon Killebrew, Mickey Mantle, Eddie Mathews, Ralph Kiner, Joe DiMaggio, Rudy York, and Chuck Klein.

This is quite the impressive company for PCA to join, as he begins to cement himself as one of baseball's best players at just 24 years old.

Crow-Armstrong has 38 homers in the 2026 season with 91 RBIs, and a .283 batting average with a .954 OPS and 32 steals.

It's already a ridiculously impressive season, and with one more month to go, Crow-Armstrong has a chance to really cement his 2026 season as one of the greatest in Major League Baseball history.
