12,000 fans celebrate season opening event

What a way to kick off the new season! A total of 12,000 RBL fans joined us at the Festwiese on Sunday for our big season-opening event. The five-hour-long event featured plenty of football, action and entertainment, as well as one very special surprise guest.

Kevin Kampl provided one of the highlights of the day. Our long-serving former midfielder returned to Leipzig as a surprise guest and was greeted with huge cheers from the RBL fans at the Festwiese.

“It feels a bit like coming home,” said Kampl on his return. Our former number 44 wished the team and the fans every success for the new season and promised that it wouldn’t be long before he was back at Red Bull Arena too.

Our teams were naturally a major part of the day too. The men’s first team, led by head coach Martín Demichelis, the RBL Women and the RBLZ Gaming Team all took to the main stage for thie official presentations.

Afterwards, the players spent plenty of time signing autographs and posing for selfies.

Red Bull freestyle motocross rider Luc Ackermann provided plenty of thrills above the Festwiese. He and his crew opened the programme with a spectacular aerial show.

There was plenty more to enjoy around the festival area too, with carousels, bouncy castles, the Bullis Bande village, a football court, karaoke, a live DJ, a giant waterslide and a food court keeping fans entertained until 17:00 CEST.
