Two pillars of the football community in East Bernard died Saturday in a tragic car crash. Tributes poured in Sunday from those who knew them best.

Jeremy Jenkins, the athletic director of East Bernard ISD and head football coach of East Bernard High School, and his wife Brandy Jenkins, a teacher at East Bernard Junior High School, were killed in a car accident Saturday night. East Bernard is a suburb 50 miles southwest of Houston.

Now, the couple's family is speaking out about their loss, remembering Jeremy and Brandy as devoted spouses, educators, coaches and family members.

Greg Jenkins, Jeremy's brother and the athletic director and head basketball coach at Martins Mill in North Texas, honored Brandy in a post on social media late Sunday night.

"My sister-in-law Brandy Jenkins was a true hero," Greg wrote. "She followed my brother all over Texas, chasing that big dream to be the best damn HS football Coach in Texas."

"They moved more than LeBron James. Town after town and she just kept packing that U-Haul & loaded the boys up."

"She never complained.  Just met new friends and left best friends behind.   As coaches we don't see all the time how much our wives make us who we are.   During season last year she gave me constant text of the East Bernard scores and you could tell her heart was into every text."

The couple's nephew, Hayden Jenkins, a coach at Martins Mill, also shared his heartbreak following the news.

"Two of my favorite people in the world my uncle Jeremy and aunt Brandy," Hayden posted on Facebook. "Man this just doesn't seem real .. please continue to pray for our family & everyone affected .. man man man I hope they knew how much I loved them and looked up to em!! Damn this one hurts!!"

Per the Texas Department of Public Safety via KHOU, the Jenkins' 2025 Tesla Model Y overturned while attempting to meet a curve on northbound Highway 60 near County Road 210 at around 10:07 p.m. Saturday. Both Jeremy-the driver of the vehicle-and Brandy were pronounced dead at the scene.

East Bernard ISD shared a statement honoring the Jenkins' on Sunday. The district added it will provide counselors and support staff for students and teachers in the coming weeks.

"Jeremy and Brandy were much more than their titles or the roles they held within our schools," read a statement released Sunday by East Bernard ISD. "They were colleagues, educators, mentors, friends, and family.

"We encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out and allow others to walk alongside you during this difficult time. We will continue to communicate information about available support as we move through the coming days."
