It was an active Sunday evening at the Cyclone Soccer Complex Sunday, as Iowa State (2-0-0, 0-0 Big 12) dominated Kansas City (0-1-0 0-0 Summit) by a score of 4-0.
The Cyclones scored twice in each half. Mia Sowers opened the scoring at the 25:45 mark and Aubrey “Pickles” Crawford recorded a goal at the 41:23 mark. Grace Luedde scored a goal her own in the 2:08 into the second stanza. Morgan Goodman recorded the final goal at the 60:22 mark.
Cassidy Corcione and Morgan Goodman were tied for the team lead with three shots each, and each placed one on target. Off the bench, Illinois transfer Ava Hancock recorded a shot on goal. Goodman recorded three assists in the win. Makenna Marshall, Izzy Kapanke and Breezie Brewer recorded one assist each.
In net, Utah transfer Eme McClenahan pitched a shutout in the first half and UMBC transfer Sara Gavagan handled the second half as they combined for a clean sheet. McClenahan recorded a trio of saves.
For the Roos, Maddie Muhr, Ella Reyling and Genevieve Hull were the only three to place shots on goal.
The Cyclones led in total shots (18-11) and shots on goal (8-3). Kansas City led in both corner kicks (3-2) and in saves (4-3).
