4-star 2027 forward Celsy Colombo commits to Arizona women’s basketball

It was a big recruiting weekend for Arizona women’s basketball and it paid off. Four-star forward Celsy Colombo, one of at least two ranked recruits from the class of 2027 who were scheduled to be on campus the weekend of the Aug. 21, made her commitment to the Wildcats public on Tuesday afternoon.

In addition to Colombo, fellow forward Dasia Scott was supposed to visit Tucson this past weekend.

Colombo is a 6-foot-4 power forward. Her hometown is alternately listed as Yorkshire, Lancaster, or Arcade, NY on various sites. All are within 45 miles of Buffalo.

Colombo currently plays her prep ball for St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster but previously played for Pioneer Senior High School in Yorkshire. Her club team is Exodus.

Last year, she averaged 10.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game in 20 appearances for St. Mary’s. She hit 73 percent of her free throws, 58 percent of her 2-point shots, and 30 percent of her 3-point shots.

Colombo is not currently ranked by ESPN, but she has a scout grade of 91. That puts her just behind a clump of players ranked No. 86-100, all of whom share a scout grade of 91. She was ranked No. 96 by ESPN as recently as June.

While ESPN may not be as high on her, it is an outlier. 247sports has Colombo as the No. 38 player in the nation, the No. 10 power forward, and the No. 2 player in New York in their internal ranking. Their composite has her as No. 48 in the nation, No. 11 among power forwards, and the No. 2 player in New York.

Rivals has Colombo ranked No. 53 overall, No. 12 among power forwards, and No. 3 in New York in its internal ranking. She’s not ranked in its industry composite because she lacks an ESPN ranking, which makes up one-third of the industry ranking.

Prospect Nation ranks her as the No. 36 player in the class and the No. 11 forward, forming a consensus with 247 and Rivals that she’s a top-50 player.

USA Basketball thinks she’s one of the best players in her class, as well. Colombo was a finalist for the U16 national team in 2025. In 2026, she was invited back to trials for the U17 team. While she wasn’t one of the 22 finalists for the U17 team, Chris Hansen wrote on Prospects Nation that she “used her mobility and range in the trail spot well.”

She had offers from Syracuse, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, DePaul, and NC State, among others. Several websites indicate she was previously leaning towards either Syracuse or Fairfield.

The Wildcats may have gotten a little recruiting boost. When head coach Becky Burke discussed the hiring of associate head coach Todd Starkey last spring, she joked that his son Drew Starkey might be a resource. The actor was also in town recently.

“Might not hurt recruiting,” Burke said last March.

Burke just welcomed a top-20 2026 class and has two four-star verbal commitments in the class of 2027, so she probably doesn’t need much help. In this day and age, it pays to use any leg up, though.

• Finley Parcher, who is ranked No. 27 in the class of 2027 by ESPN, placed Arizona among her top programs, according to both 247sports’ Dushawn London and on3’s Talia Goodman. The native of Washington is considering Washington, Oregon, Gonzaga, UCLA, Stanford, TCU, and UConn along with the Wildcats. She has taken unofficial visits to Oregon, Oregon State, and Utah and officials to Oregon and Gonzaga. She plans OV to Stanford, UCLA, TCU.

• Giaunni Rogers is supposed to visit Arizona on Oct. 4, according to Goodman. The 5-foot-9 combo guard is from Georgia.
