6 Jaguars players on roster bubble entering final preseason game

Training camp practices have now wrapped up for the Jacksonville Jaguars. All that remains is the preseason finale on Friday with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Then on Sunday, it's roster cutdown day. By 6:00 PM ET, GM James Gladstone must whittle his roster down to just 53 players.

For these six players, Friday's game provides one last opportunity to give their stock a boost as they look to continue their roster pushes.

We saw the Jaguars carry four running backs for much of last season. Could they do that again? Abdullah has made a strong case for a roster spot. He's been productive on the ground and through the air, and while LeQuint Allen remains sidelined, Abdullah could handle the passing down duties, not to mention that he has return experience as well.

There is potentially one roster spot up for grabs at tight end, with Morris and Long competing for that role. Morris was a core special teams contributor last season and made an impact on offense as a blocker. Long is more of a pass-catching threat. I tend to think that Morris' contributions could be more valuable. That said, it's not a given that either player makes the final roster.

Like tight end, there is potentially one roster spot up for grabs at linebacker. All three of these players have flashed this summer. McLeod can double as a pass rusher off the edge. Abdullah had a terrific showing against the Saints, while Tavai has been effective as a blitzer. Both Abdullah and Tavai have special teams experience as well, which could be important when it comes to who makes the team.
