It’s rubber match time! After a disappointing game on Friday and an exciting one on Saturday, the San Francisco Giants will attempt to take the series against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.
Right-hander Blade Tidwell takes the mound for the Giants, with the 25-year old making his 11th appearance of the season. Tidwell is 0-0 on the year, but sports a 2.78 ERA, a 2.77 FIP, and 19 strikeouts to five walks in 22.2 innings. After being used as a reliever earlier in the year, Tidwell has returned from the Minors as a starter, and in two starts since getting called up has allowed just three runs in 10.2 innings.
For the Rockies, it’s righty Gabriel Hughes, a 24-year old in his debut season. Hughes, who was the 10th overall pick in 2022, has pitched in seven games and made six starts, and is 0-4 with a 5.61 ERA, a 3.26 FIP, and 31 strikeouts to 12 walks in 33.2 innings. He got rocked in his last outing, giving up seven runs in four innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Enjoy the game, everyone!
