Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight standouts Mansur Abdul-Malik vs. Dustin Stoltzfus will go to war this weekend (Sat., Aug. 15, 2026) inside Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for UFC 330.

I have to admit that I’m surprised to see Abdul-Malik back in the cage just five months after his first professional defeat, a potentially life-altering beating at the hands, shins, and knees of Yousri Belgaroui. It’s safe to say that defeat stole away most of Abdul-Malik’s momentum, but the knockout artist has a clear path to rebound here. Though he’s admittedly faced a pretty tough gauntlet of Middleweight competition, Stoltzfus has lost more often than not inside the Octagon. Having lost his last two to Kelvin Gastelum and Nursulton Ruziboev, Stoltzfus’ job may be on the line in this collision of Pennsylvanian standouts.

Let’s take a closer look at the betting odds and strategic keys for each athlete:

How Abdul-Malik Wins

A D1 collegiate wrestler with power in his hands, Abdul-Malik began his UFC career with a lot of hype. Unfortunately, that Belgaroui loss and a “No Contest” versus Cody Brundage have slowed his roll, revealing that the technical skills haven’t necessary caught up to the physical gifts. Still, he’s on the right side of 30 and only has 11 pro fights on his record, so there’s reason to hope that Abdul-Malik can still develop into a 185-pound contender.

Abdul-Malik’s athleticism edge here is likely to be rather crushing. Stoltzfus is the more technical grappler and might even have a striking advantage on paper, but Abdul-Malik moves much faster and hits much harder. Last time out, we saw Gastelum’s quickness really trouble Stoltzfus, who simply couldn’t see that 1-2 coming.

Abdul-Malik and his 80 inch reach don’t even have to close distance, so his shots should feel even faster. I’d like to see Abdul-Malik firing straight punches up the middle, particularly in response to Stoltzfus’ (often naked) kicks. If he employs a sprawl-and-brawl strategy and seeks exchanges, he’s quite likely to land heavy shots and render Stoltzfus defensive … or unconscious.

How Stoltzfus Wins

Stoltzfus is one of those fighters who just doesn’t quite have the athleticism to consistently win fights. He has plenty of skills and a healthy amount of grit, but Stoltzfus is always starting in a bit of a hole compared to his opposition. Nevertheless, the perennial underdog has managed to defeat the likes of Joe Pyfer, Marc-Andre Barriault, and Punahele Soriano, which is a very respectable resume!

Stoltzfus cannot wait around here, as trying to play catch up with the quicker puncher is a nearly impossible task. Plus, Abdul-Malik just got taken to school less than five full months ago and took a lot of damage in the process. He might be carrying mental doubts or physical wear-and-tear into the fight with him, so why not try to get off to a strong start?

Aside from initiating exchanges on his own accord, Stoltzfus has to be willing to try to take down the wrestler. Against Soriano, Stoltzfus did a nice job in ducking under punches and circling behind his opponent, landing him in good position to score easier takedowns. Timing a blast double on Abdul-Malik might be unlikely, but using his striking experience to help drag him to the floor is a better option.

Abdul-Malik vs. Stoltzfus Prediction

I have questions about Abdul-Malik after his recent and devastating loss, but unfortunately, I have plenty of established answers about Stoltzfus. He may be tough, but he’s not the most durable nor the hardest to hit. His only way forward here is through the fire, and Abdul-Malik tends to really hurt his opponents when his shots land.

This fight could get interesting if it makes it to the back half, I’m just not sure Stoltzfus survives that long.
