BALTIMORE (AP) — Adley Rutschman made a memorable return to Camden Yards on Thursday night, hitting a home run in his first at-bat as a member of the Boston Red Sox. The slugger launched a drive to right field during the top of the first inning, showcasing his power and helping his new team in a crucial matchup against the Baltimore Orioles.
As Rutschman stepped to the plate with two outs, he was met with a standing ovation from the crowd, as well as from the Orioles' dugout. Currently, the Red Sox are in a strong position to qualify for the playoffs, holding the second wild card spot. In contrast, the Orioles, who have continued to compete without Rutschman, entered the game just one game behind Cleveland for the third wild card.
