The Boston Red Sox decided to move on from skipper Alex Cora, a decision that came as somewhat of a surprise when it happened. Many didn't believe that Cora was the reason for some of the Red Sox's struggles, and some will still suggest that wasn't the case.
However, it's almost impossible to deny that Chad Tracy has done an incredible job, better than what Cora did.
Speaking to MassLive about the entire situation and what he's up to now, Cora had a lot to say. He also gave three reasons as to why he's excited about not having to coach in Major League Baseball.
“I’m like, you know what, I needed my family, for how much I love the game,” Cora said, per MassLive. “I’ll say it again, it’s three different feelings: happy for my family, upset that they didn’t let me finish the job and honestly, relieved I don’t have to go through scouting reports and the matrix and talk to the media twice a day and live in the bubble of, ‘We have to do this.’
“At the end, priorities are priorities. These people here are amazing and they’re loving life.”
Baseball is baseball, and while everybody loves it who is a fan of the game, it's important to remember that there are a lot more important things in life than a game.
Cora, who has been around Major League Baseball for a very long time, understands that just as much as anybody else.
Still, he has a family at home, doesn't have to go through hours upon hours of work even outside of games, and other things that are required to be a manager in Major League Baseball.
