Alpha Prime Racing to Introduce Ford Mustangs in 2027 NASCAR O'Reilly Season

In a significant move for the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, Alpha Prime Racing has announced that it will field Ford Mustangs beginning in the 2027 season. The team will utilize the iconic Ford vehicles for its No. 44 and No. 45 entries, marking a new chapter in its competitive journey.

Currently, Alpha Prime Racing is represented by full-time drivers Brennan Poole and Lavar Scott. Poole is positioned 17th in the driver standings, while rookie Scott holds the 26th spot. The team has occasionally fielded a third car, the No. 4, to further enhance its presence on the track.

This partnership comes at a time when Ford has not had a full-time presence in the secondary level of NASCAR, following the closure of Am Racing earlier this year. Alpha Prime Racing has indicated that it will begin integrating Ford equipment into its operations for select races as the 2026 season progresses, allowing the team to prepare for the full transition in 2027.

The ownership group behind Alpha Prime Racing includes Tommy Joe Martins, Caesar Bacarella, and Craig Martins. The team is led by president Jusan Hamilton, a former NASCAR executive who previously managed competition operations within the sport. Under Hamilton's guidance, the team aims to elevate its competitive standing in the series.

Since its inception in the early 2020s, Alpha Prime Racing has yet to celebrate a victory in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. However, the team has achieved five top-five finishes and 19 top-ten finishes, with its best result recorded in 2025 at Rockingham, where driver Parker Retzlaff finished in a commendable position.

As of now, the competitive landscape in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series shows a lack of full-time Ford teams, alongside only six full-time Toyota teams. In contrast, Chevrolet boasts over 20 full-time entries, underscoring the dominance of the brand in the current season. This shift to Ford could potentially alter the dynamics in the series, providing Alpha Prime Racing with new opportunities to compete more effectively.
