Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back when they welcome Ipswich Town to Old Trafford in their second Premier League fixture of the 2026/27 campaign.
United endured a disappointing start to the new season last weekend, suffering a 2-0 defeat away to newly promoted Hull City. Goals from Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy condemned Michael Carrick's side to defeat on the opening weekend.
With Ipswich now set to visit Old Trafford, United have an immediate opportunity to put that result behind them and get their first points of the campaign on the board. Sunday's clash will also mark the club's first home fixture of the season, with Carrick's side looking to make a positive impression in front of their supporters.
United currently sit 16th in the Premier League table with a goal difference of -2, and their forwards will be determined to find their scoring touch when Ipswich arrive on Sunday afternoon.
Carrick issues latest on United's injuriesUnited were missing several first-team stars when they faced Hull City away from home, with the likes of Amad, Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount, and Manuel Ugarte all out of action for the 2-0 loss.
Earlier this week, Mount was spotted back training with the first team, while Roundtable understands that Amad could be out for another five weeks after having initial scans on an injury picked up in training.
Matthijs de Ligt remains out of action for another few months as he recovers from a back operation, while Ugarte will be out for a sustained period after suffering an ACL tear.
Speaking on Friday afternoon, Carrick explained the latest on his squad.
"Amad won’t be involved, he’ll be out for a little bit longer," the United boss said. "Mase [Mount] is back around the group, he trained this week, so a real positive."
When asked on new signing Carlos Baleba, Carrick said, "He’s got a little ankle issue, so maybe a couple of weeks or so, three weeks. We knew that before. It’s no major issue. It’ll be great to have him back."
Carrick also suggested that the club are hopeful that Baleba could make his debut before the international break.
