The incident came in the third inning, and he was out in center field for the top of the fourth inning; he did not hit in the bottom of the inning because he was not up.

After that, in the top of the fifth inning, Pages was not out in center field; instead, he left the game, and Kike Hernandez replaced him.

The Dodgers announced that it is a left-hand contusion for Pages, but given how valuable Pages is, they must have felt the need to be extra cautious with a player who is rarely out.

Luckily, within the organization and on the roster, there are plenty of players who can fill in at outfield.

Hernandez is clearly one, but there is also Tommy Edman and Alex Call on the immediate roster.

Down in Triple-A, Zach Ehrhard stands out as the best option at center field.

Pages is vital because his center field defense is among the best in the league, along with his contact hitting.

For most of the season, he has hit in the top three spots. It is more of a proxy for the struggles of some of the stars, but it also shows how far he’s come as a hitter and player overall.

He just made his first All-Star team this year, and he’s been one of the team’s most consistent players.

The defense will likely take a hit, given the lack of reps either Edman or Hernandez will have at that spot; either way, the lineup is knocked down a peg.

This year, he has 21 home runs and 80 RBIs, with a .272 average. The Dodgers will need him in the postseason, and in the hunt for a top speed, they cannot afford a prolonged absence.
