Angel Reese delivered a historically flawless performance in the Atlanta Dream’s 124-88 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday.

During the Dream’s win on August 20, 2026, Reese finished 9-for-9 from the field. She wrapped up her stellar night with two three-pointers for 20 points, three steals, eight assists, and 10 rebounds.

According to ESPN Insights, Reese is now only the third player in WNBA history to record a 20-point double-double while shooting 100 percent, which she did on the road.

The 24-year-old Dream forward broke her personal WNBA season record of 172 from 2024 with three offensive rebounds in the first half. She recorded her WNBA-leading 25th double-double of the season.

Reese needs four more such performances to surpass Alyssa Thomas’ single-season record of 28 double-doubles, established in 2023. The Dream has eight games remaining in its regular-season schedule.

A decade ago, Los Angeles Sparks center Nneka Ogwumike became the last player to score a 20-point double-double without missing a single shot. In June 2016, Ogwumike scored 32 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a victory over the Dallas Wings.

In the first half of the game against Los Angeles, Reese made history by becoming the first player in WNBA history to post 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists at a 100 percent field goal percentage.

The perfect night on Thursday follows a disappointing overtime loss to the Indiana Fever on Sunday. During the August 16, 2026, game, Reese missed two late layups that could have helped Atlanta win the game in regulation. She has previously struggled around the rim, going 3-for-12 and 1-for-12 earlier in August 2026.

Speaking to reporters after the Dream’s win over the Sparks on Thursday, Reese said, “I was just in the mode. When you see the ball go through the net, you just continue to shoot it. I think the defense really led to the offense, and we got a lot of deflections. So, I kind of knew what kind of game it was going to be from the first steal I got, and just continuing (sic) to fight through.”

Commenting on Reese’s performance in the two games following Sunday’s loss, Dream coach Karl Smesko said, “She’s had two excellent games since then. Today was just outstanding, and hopefully it’s just something to build on from here.”

On Thursday night, the two-time rebounding queen was outstanding at Crypto.com Arena. She outperformed her opponent on both ends of the court despite making five turnovers.

The cherry on top was having Los Angeles as her opponent, with the Sparks being eliminated from playoff contention after losing six straight games.

The crowd cheered Reese after her reaction to the momentous accomplishment. JustWomensSports shared a video capturing the reactions of both the bench and the star forward.

Reese’s response, captured in the clip, showed her covering her mouth and waving to her fans. She made sure to hype up the crowd behind her after draining a three-pointer. Before sprinting past her team, she posed with her back to the crowd, as Atlanta staff and the bench could be seen on camera applauding her. The enthusiastic crowd could also be seen with their hands up, passionately celebrating her achievement.

In her first year with Atlanta, Reese is making quite the name for herself. She became the fastest player in WNBA history to earn 1,000 career rebounds earlier in the season in only 79 games. Her accomplishment surpassed the previous record set by Tina Charles, who recorded 1,000 rebounds in 89 games. In only 32 games, Reese also broke the Dream’s franchise record for the most rebounds in a single season.
