Anthony Martial Seeks Premier League Comeback as Free Agent

Former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is on the lookout for a return to the Premier League after becoming a free agent this summer. The 30-year-old Frenchman has been without a club since June, when he mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Mexican side Monterrey.

Reports suggest that intermediaries have reached out to several Premier League clubs to inform them of Martial's availability. Teams such as Everton, Leeds United, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Newcastle United, Sunderland, and Tottenham have all been approached regarding the forward's potential return to England. However, it is important to note that these inquiries do not necessarily indicate that any of these clubs are actively pursuing a deal for him.

In particular, Everton appears to be a less likely destination for Martial at this time. Despite previous links to the club following their unsuccessful attempt to sign Folarin Balogun from Monaco on transfer deadline day, there have been no recent contacts regarding Martial.

As a free agent, Martial is eligible to join a club outside the traditional transfer window, and he is currently weighing his options. Interest in the forward is not limited to England; clubs from France, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia have also expressed interest in signing him.

Martial's career at Manchester United spanned nine years, beginning when he joined the club from AS Monaco in 2015. During his time at Old Trafford, he made over 300 appearances and netted 90 goals, contributing to the team's success by winning the FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League.

After departing United in 2024, Martial had a brief stint with AEK Athens before moving to Monterrey in September of the same year. His time in Mexico was short-lived, lasting less than a year, which has now made him available for a free transfer.

A potential return to the Premier League would provide Martial with an opportunity to reignite his career in a league where he initially made a significant impact, especially during his debut season with Manchester United. However, his recent experiences abroad have led to a different trajectory for his professional journey.
