The Arizona Wildcats softball program has officially released its fall schedule for 2026, showcasing an ambitious lineup that promises to challenge the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. This year’s schedule marks a significant upgrade from previous years, featuring a blend of intrasquad scrimmages and games against both junior college and Division I opponents.
Beginning on Friday, October 9, the Wildcats will kick off their fall activities with the first Red vs. Blue scrimmage at Hillenbrand Stadium. This event will provide fans with their initial glimpse of the team’s new roster additions, which include five freshmen and six transfers. The scrimmage is expected to be a lively affair as supporters look forward to seeing how the newcomers integrate with the returning players.
Following the intrasquad action, Arizona will face its first external opponent on Saturday, October 17, when the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) visits for a doubleheader. This matchup is particularly significant as it represents the Wildcats’ first competitive games against a different uniform this fall. The doubleheader against UTEP is part of a broader effort to enhance the team's competitive edge, with four scheduled games against four-year programs, three of which will be against Division I teams.
On October 23, the Wildcats will return to their traditional junior college rivals, taking on Phoenix College and Pima Community College. This matchup is a staple of Arizona’s fall schedule and provides valuable experience against familiar competition. The following week, on October 30, the Wildcats will face Chandler-Gilbert Community College and NAIA opponent Benedictine University-Mesa, continuing their trend of mixing competition levels.
Arizona will conclude its fall schedule with a significant game against Grand Canyon University (GCU) on October 31. This matchup against GCU, another Division I team, will be a critical test for the Wildcats as they finalize their preparations for the spring season.
The fall practice games will wrap up with a second Red-Blue scrimmage on Friday, November 13, allowing the coaching staff to assess player development and team dynamics before heading into the winter months.
In addition to the schedule release, the Wildcats have made a notable roster addition with the signing of Jaelyn Castillo, a Tucson native and former catcher at Utah State. Castillo brings a wealth of experience, having made 34 starts in 39 appearances last season at USU. Her background includes winning three state titles in high school and playing for local travel teams such as the Oro Valley Sun Cats and AZ Storm. Castillo will join fellow transfer Elizabeth Moffitt and returning player Kez Lucas as the team’s catchers, enhancing the depth at this crucial position.
With a challenging schedule and a promising roster, the Arizona Wildcats softball team is poised for an exciting fall season that will set the stage for their aspirations in the upcoming competitive year.
