Bologna FC 1909 are pleased to announce the signing of defender Arthur Theate from Eintracht Frankfurt on loan until 30 June 2027, with an option to make the move permanent.
Arthur is a left-footed centre-back who combines reliability and all-round defensive quality, having quickly risen to the highest levels of European football. Born in 2000, he made an immediate impact in Serie A during his first spell in Rossoblù, before continuing his international journey with Rennes and Eintracht Frankfurt, gaining valuable experience in top European leagues and competitions. Over the years, he has developed his ability in one-on-one defending and in the air, while adding personality, defensive awareness and an increasingly important role in building play from the back.
His consistency has also seen him establish himself as a regular member of the Belgium national team, representing his country at both the European Championship and World Cup. His return to Bologna therefore carries both strong symbolic and sporting significance: after leaving the club in the summer of 2022, Theate returns to the Rossoblù as a more mature player, strengthened by a journey that has seen him compete at the highest levels of international football.
A homecoming that brings back to Bologna an established defender who is still entering the prime of his footballing career.
