Jannusch brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as an assistant coach for the past two seasons. His background also includes a tenure as the head coach for the girls basketball team at Warrenton High School from 2022 to 2024. During his time at Warrenton, he developed a reputation for fostering talent and building competitive teams, making him a fitting choice for the head coaching position at Astoria.

In a press release, Rub praised Jannusch for his contributions to the program, stating, "Coach Jannusch has been a great asset to our program the past two seasons. As one of our assistants, he immediately immersed himself with our youth programs. Coach Jannusch will do an outstanding job leading our girls. We are excited to have him serve as our head coach." This endorsement highlights Jannusch's commitment to the development of young athletes and his ability to connect with players at various levels.

Residing in Astoria with his family, Jannusch is not only dedicated to basketball but also to his community. He lives with his wife, Angela, and their three children: Lucy, a sophomore at Astoria High School; Finley, a seventh grader at Astoria Middle School; and Winnie, a fourth grader at Lewis and Clark Elementary School. His involvement in the community extends beyond coaching, as he also works as a Farmer’s Insurance agent, further establishing his roots in the area.

The hiring of Jannusch marks a new chapter for the Astoria High girls basketball team, which is looking to build on past successes and develop a strong program for the future. With his experience and local ties, Jannusch is expected to bring a fresh perspective and renewed energy to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.

As the season approaches, the Astoria High School community is eager to see how Jannusch will implement his coaching philosophy and strategies to enhance the performance of the girls basketball program. His previous experience and deep understanding of the game will be crucial as the team aims to compete at a high level in the upcoming competitions.
