Alex Lodise is moving up in the world.
The former FSU shortstop has been promoted to Double-A and is set to join the Columbus Clingstones, the affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. It is his second promotion of the season, he started the year with the Augusta GreenJackets before getting promoted to High-A and joining the Rome Emperors.
He was even better at Rome than he was at Augusta, hitting .343 with 13 RBI, four home runs, and a .571 slugging percentage in 70 at-bats over 17 games. He spent 94 games with the Greenjackets, hitting. 256 with 59 RBI, 21 home runs, and a .483 slugging percentage in 375 at-bats.
Lodise is ranked as Atlanta's No. 5 overall prospect and No. 2 shortstop. They took him with the No. 60 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft.
In two seasons in the minors, he is hitting .266 with a .347 on-base percentage and a .478 slugging percentage. The righty has 26 home runs, 30 doubles, and 81 RBI in 136 games. He has walked 54 times and struckout 161 times.
He has stolen 17 bases, including 15 this season. While his offense has been better in 2026, his defense has struggled. He has made 27 errors, recording a .939 fielding percentage this year. He was the 2025 ACC Defensive Player of the Year, making just five errors in 216 chances.
