Atletico Madrid players would rather see Julian Alvarez leave, with Barcelona watching

Julian Alvarez’s future at Atletico Madrid is becoming an increasingly difficult issue for the club to manage, with the situation now extending beyond the player’s relationship with the supporters.

The Argentine forward was jeered by sections of the home crowd during Atletico Madrid’s recent match against Villarreal at the Metropolitano, and the fallout from that moment appears to have created an uncomfortable atmosphere around the squad.

According to an update from El Chiringuito TV, some Atletico Madrid players have become increasingly concerned about the situation and would prefer Alvarez to leave rather than remain at the club while the current tension continues.

As far as Barcelona are concerned, they are watching developments closely. 

The Catalan giants know Alvarez wants the move, but Atletico’s firm stance has so far prevented any progress.

The reaction from the Atletico Madrid supporters during the Villarreal match was a significant moment in the Julian Alvarez saga.

Jeers aimed at a player of his standing naturally caught attention, but the feeling inside the dressing room appears to be just as important. 

The report makes it clear that some members of the squad are uncomfortable with the situation and the way it is affecting both Alvarez and the wider group.

Journalist Alex Silvestre also suggested that the forward has not looked like himself on the pitch amid the ongoing uncertainty.

“People told me they hadn’t seen him at 100%—and regardless of claims that the ball wasn’t reaching him, he simply wasn’t the same Julian when he took the field,” he explained.

As such, there is now a section of the Atletico Madrid squad that would prefer Alvarez to leave if the current atmosphere does not improve. 

The concern is not necessarily about his ability or importance as a player, but about the effect the situation is having on the dressing room.

Silvestre made that feeling clear when discussing the mood among the players.

“They would rather the team’s star leave than have him stay in his current state,” he added.

For now, Atletico Madrid still hold the strongest position when it comes to Alvarez’s future. 

The club have shown strong resistance to the idea of letting him leave, despite Barcelona’s interest and the player’s desire to make the move.

The Blaugrana, meanwhile, are not forcing the issue, as their strategy is to watch how the situation develops and wait for any change in Atletico’s position.

From Barcelona’s point of view, patience is the key.

Atletico Madrid have no shortage of reasons to resist a sale, particularly when it concerns one of their biggest players. 

However, the situation can change when internal tension starts to grow, and the player is no longer fully settled.

The reaction from the Metropolitano crowd, concerns within the dressing room and Alvarez’s desire to move have now created a situation that will demand careful handling from the Atletico hierarchy.

Barcelona cannot control what happens next, but they do not need to. Their interest is clear, and they are aware that pressure is building around the player.

The big question is whether that pressure will eventually change Atletico Madrid’s stance. 

For now, the door remains closed, but the situation around Julian Alvarez is becoming harder for the club to contain.
