Ava Brooks, Braden Holdford are Aug. 17-23 Akron-Area Athletes of Week

Athletes from Norton and Twinsburg high schools won the voting for the Akron-Area High School Athlete of the Week for Aug. 17-23.

Ava Brooks is the girls winner and Braden Holdford wins for the boys. Brooks, who plays tennis for Norton, received 61.50% of the votes cast. Holdford, a soccer player for Twinsburg, received 82.80% of the votes cast.

A total 20,674 votes were cast overall. Look for more on each athlete below.

Ava Brooks, Norton tennis

The Panthers' No. 1 singles player defeated an opponent from Louisville 6-2, 6-0 in a 5-0 match victory and beat an opponent from Wadsworth 6-3, 7-5 for her team's only point in a 4-1 match loss.

Braden Holdford, Twinsburg soccer

Scored with 10 minutes left to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 win over 2025 state runner-up St. Ignatius.
