OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) - The injury bug tore through the Oak Hill Red Devils in their first season competing in AAAA.
Oak Hill started with a 3-1 record before things began to take a turn. The Red Devils then stumbled to a .500 record before losing to George Washington in round 1 of the playoffs.
Health has since become a primary focus for the program this offseason.

Hopefully the guys put in enough work internally and externally to actually survive the season,” said Head Coach Davon Marion.
“We’re a scrappy little team, you know. We’ve been lifting. We’ve been getting big. You know, we are going to come out. We’re going to knock some heads,” added Cade Compton, a running back and linebacker for the Red Devils.
Head Coach Davon Marion told 59News that Year 4 of his tenure is all about making the season a fun experience for the whole team.
Fans should expect to see a more selfless team come Friday nights this fall.
“Together we’ve been building this brotherhood on this team that has family-like energy and I think it’s really what’s going to impact us the most this year,” said Compton.
“The intensity in practice also, I mean, you can hear it in the background right now, I mean. It’s just high intensity and we all love playing with each other and hitting each other,” added Rising Junior Quarterback Caleb Spack.
“We’re going to open up the playbook a lot more," said Coach Marion. "There’s a lot more kids that will celebrate teammates getting the ball and actually scoring touchdowns. So, we’re just going to spread the ball around and fly around [and] play with some excitement.”
Brothers Cade and Caleb Compton, as well as Caden Morris have emerged as big voices in the locker room and on the field.
