Barcelona on course for record sales window of Laporta’s latest tenure as club could raise €120m

Barcelona are approaching the end of the summer transfer window with several departures still to be completed, but with a few arrivals potentially on the cards as well.

Most importantly for Barça, the financial picture from these sales is already shaping up to be one of the strongest of Joan Laporta’s second spell as president.

According to SPORT, Barcelona could generate around €120 million this summer through direct sales, should they get all the exits over the line in the coming days.

The biggest deal has been Ferran Torres’ move to PSG for around €48.5 million, accounting for a large share of Barcelona’s direct transfer income.

La Masia has also played a major role. Ansu Fati and Tommy Marques brought in around €11 million each, Inaki Pena another €3 million, while Dani Rodriguez and Andres Cuenca also brought in smaller amounts.

More business is expected. Hector Fort has brought in around €8.5 million from his move to Real Sociedad.

Alvaro Cortes could bring in around €3 million, while Toni Fernandez’s move to Venezia should bring in around €4 million.

If Marc Casado is also sold for close to Barça’s asking price of €20 million, direct sales would rise to roughly €110 million.

That would make this the most productive selling window since Laporta returned in 2021.

The academy’s importance is especially striking. More than half of the overall income could be linked directly or indirectly to players developed at Barcelona.

That includes not only current departures, but also money generated from previous decisions.

Barça are set to receive around €4.8 million from Jan Virgili’s move to Club Brugge from Mallorca.

Solidarity payments from the transfers of Nico Gonzalez, Marc Cucurella, Alejandro Grimaldo and Sergi Altimira have brought in another €4 million.

Barcelona have also created room through wages.

Robert Lewandowski’s contract expiry, along with the loan departures of Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ronald Araujo, did not produce transfer fees, but they significantly reduced the salary bill.

All this has put the Catalan club in a much better situation to spend ahead of the new season and helped Deco bring in players.

Barcelona have signed Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Jesse Bisiwu, Rodri and Joao Cancelo this summer transfer window.

After seasons of financial navigation, this summer has been the first time in many years that the Blaugrana have operated in the transfer window with a degree of freedom.

With a few moves still to be made in these final days of the window, it remains to be seen what kind of business Barça do and whether they make any more additions to the squad.
