Barcelona youngster Roony Bardghji has undergone successful surgery after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, dealing a major blow to both the player and the club.
The Swedish winger picked up the serious injury during training shortly after Barcelona’s involvement in the triangular tournament in Udine.
Bardghji did not travel for the competition as the club looked to avoid any unnecessary risk while his future away from Spotify Camp Nou was being explored.
Barcelona have confirmed that the operation was successful. The procedure was carried out at Hospital de Barcelona by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau under the supervision of the club’s medical staff.
For now, no official timeframe has been given for his recovery.
The injury is particularly cruel for Bardghji, who had been expected to leave Barcelona in search of regular playing time before the transfer window closed.

Roony Bardghji’s injury is even more concerning because it involves the same knee that previously kept him out of action for a lengthy period.
While playing for Copenhagen in April 2024, the winger suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for around ten months.
He eventually returned to fitness and completed his move to Barcelona, signing a contract that runs until 2029.
However, after struggling for regular opportunities last season, Barcelona were considering a move elsewhere for the young attacker.
A departure was seen as a possible chance for Bardghji to play more consistently and continue his development. However, that plan has now been put on hold.
With the ACL injury requiring surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process ahead, Bardghji will remain in Barcelona as he begins another difficult recovery.
Bardghji’s message after surgeryView this post on InstagramFollowing the successful operation, Bardghji took to social media to share his first public message since the injury.
The Barcelona winger wrote: “The road back starts now.”
The message quickly drew support from teammates and former colleagues as the 20-year-old prepares for another long spell away from the pitch.
His former club Copenhagen also sent an encouraging message to their former player, reminding him that he has already overcome a similar challenge earlier in his career.
They wrote: “Stay strong, Roony! You’ve done it before, you can do it again!”
The support will be important for Bardghji, who knows better than most what lies ahead.
