ALPINE, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - The Alpine Fightin Bucks are ready to turn the page, following a 2-win season in 2025.

Last season, the Bucks finished third in the district, with a 2-4 record. In the playoffs, they fell to Coahoma in the bi-district round.

Second-year head coach Jerry Dominguez said continuing the foundation established from year one will be a point of emphasis.

"Continuing to lay a solid foundation," Dominguez said. "I've always told the kids that I want to lay a tough, solid foundation where our kids play hard, and they play with great enthusiasm and energy."

Alpine returns 13 starters from last season, and senior Rode Babb said experience will be the difference maker in 2026.

"This year's team's a lot younger (and) I feel that a lot of them have experience," Babb said.

The Bucks return six starters on offense, as Tight end Connor Ramirez expects big things from that unit.

"We have a lot of good receivers and we have some new quarterbacks and they're looking really good," Ramirez said. "I'm hoping the offense can make plays."

According to Dave Campbell's Texas High School Football, Alpine is predicted to finish 4th in District 3-3A DII.

The Bucks open the season on August 28th, hosting the McCamey Badgers.
