Bayern Munich women won the German Super Cup for the third straight time on Saturday, beating rivals Wolfsburg yet again, this time with a 3-0 scoreline.

Wolfsburg goalkeeper Stina Johannes was at fault for the first two goals.

Since the competition was relaunched two years ago, powerhouses Bayern have now overcome the Wolves each time in the season curtain raiser.

The double double winners prevailed on this occasion in Ingolstadt thanks to Jovana Damnjanović heading in Klara Bühl's free kick on 32 minutes and then Bühl converting a direct free kick just before the break.

Star of the show Bühl scored the third soon after the interval with a solo finish.

Wolfsburg, who have been outstripped by Bayern in recent seasons having long dominated German women's football, gave a good account of themselves despite the score but the Bavarians look big favourites again for the coming season.

The women's Bundesliga begins next weekend when Bayern go to Union Berlin on Friday.
