BBC: Man Utd star hailed by Fernandes as a real ‘professional’ is ‘a wanted man’ in final week of window

Toby Collyer is said to be ‘a wanted man’ heading into the final days of the transfer window.

That’s according to BBC Sport’s Simon Stone, who adds that Hull City are ‘emerging as favourites’ for the Manchester United youngster’s signature.

It comes after West Bromwich Albion looked nailed on to sign Collyer last week, with the midfielder favouring a return to the Hawthorns amid interest from several suitors.

He spent the first half of 2025/2026 on loan with the Baggies and made 12 Championship appearances before a serious calf injury ended his spell in November.

By the winter window, he had been officially recalled by parent club United, where he had spent the Christmas period undergoing his rehabilitation.

When Collyer, whom Bruno Fernandes hailed as a ‘great kid’ and a ‘professional’, was deemed fit to return to action, United sought an alternative destination for their academy graduate, and sent him to spend the remainder of the season with promotion-chasing Hull on January 30.

Yet, his bad luck unfortunately continued.

Collyer was limited to just five appearances (one as a starter) for the Tigers, after which an injury sustained in training rendered him unavailable from the beginning of April until the culmination of the term.

Now, Hull are looking to bring the 22-year-old back to the MKM Stadium and give him the chance to really stake his claim while they navigate their first campaign back in the top flight.

It couldn’t have started any better for Sergej Jakirović, as his side claimed a shock 2-0 opening-day win over United on home soil last weekend.

INEOS are prepared to facilitate a permanent sale of Collyer, who arrived at Carrington from Brighton’s youth system in 2022.
