Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has named Seattle Storm star Awa Fam as a player she would like to have on her team, praising the 20-year-old’s athleticism and potential.

Cunningham has been a key contributor for the Fever this season and currently ranks second in the WNBA in three-point shooting at 44.5%. The 30-year-old has also helped Indiana reach a 24-13 record, although their five-game winning streak ended with a 91-85 loss to the Dallas Wings on Friday.

As the Fever continue their campaign, Cunningham was recently asked about Fam and what she makes of the young Storm talent.

The veteran guard praised Fam’s athleticism and potential while admitting she would like to have the youngster on her team.

“She’s very athletic and young. She has potential, I’d like to have someone like that on my team,” Cunningham said.

Cunningham also highlighted Fam’s competitiveness and explained why she is difficult to defend. She pointed to the youngster’s ability to stretch the floor despite her size and praised her shooting.

“It’s tough to play against her. She can space the floor even though she’s so tall and long. She can shoot pretty well, it’s exciting to have young players like that. So, I’m a big fan of her,” she concluded.

Fam’s performances against Indiana help explain why she has impressed Cunningham. Across two games against the Fever, she has averaged 13.5 points, seven rebounds, three assists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 45.5% from three-point range.

During the 2026 regular season with the Storm, Fam has appeared in 31 games and made 21 starts, averaging 28.0 minutes per game.

The 20-year-old is averaging 10.6 points on 46.0% shooting from the field, 36.2% from three-point range and 82.4% from the free-throw line. She is also averaging 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks per game, with a 56.6% true shooting percentage.
