Bishop McCort Catholic High School girls wrestling coach Kaura Coles advanced to the United World Wrestling U20 final Tuesday at 53 kilograms in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The final is Wednesday as Coles, from Canada, faces Venezuela's Alexa Janniriel Alvarez Valenzuela.
Coles beat the United States' Taylor Whiting 9-7 and India's Muskan Muskan 14-7 in her first two bouts. In a semifinal matchup, Coles topped China's Yuxuan Li.
Coles became Canada’s first world champion in 2024 at the Under-17 level. She earned gold at the 2024 Pan-American Championships as a 53-kilogram wrestler.
