Former NFL star J.J. Watt is a co-owner of English soccer team Burnley, who are due to kick off their Championship season very soon.

The Clarets suffered relegation from the Premier League in the previous campaign, meaning they will now play their football in the second tier of English football this year alongside Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s Wrexham.

Ahead of the league campaign getting underway, though, it has been reported that Burnley could now be looking to change the sponsor on the front of their shirt.

J.J. Watt revealed Burnley’s kit for the 2026/27 season a few weeks ago and stated at the time ‘Spent nearly 2 years designing this kit. A true honour and privilege. Hope you like it’.

However, Watt’s kit may now be changed before a ball is kicked in the Championship this season.

As explained by the Burnley Express, the club confirmed at the start of July that Finotive One were their new shirt sponsors.

Burnley have already worn shirts with the aforementioned sponsor in a recent Carabao Cup tie against Notts County.

However, it is now emerging that ‘the club are looking for a new sponsor, with the new league season only three days away’.

Vertu Motors have been mooted as a possible replacement, though it remains to be seen what Burnley’s shirt will look like when their league season gets underway.

Their first Championship clash of 2026/27 sees them take on fellow relegated side West Ham United on Sunday, August 16 at 4pm BST.
