A stunning second half display saw Bohemians defeat Derry City 5-3 in an eight-goal thriller at Dalymount Park.

The visitors scored the only goal of the opening half through Michael Duffy who was picked out by Barry Cotter in the 34th minute.

While Senan Mullen would be denied an equaliser by the crossbar, the tide would decisively turn after the restart as the hosts were level after two minutes as Patrick Hickey powered home a header from Jordan Flores' cross.

Three minutes later, Connor Parsons fired Bohs in front and a a third soon followed as Douglas James-Taylor spun and shot past Brian Maher.

It would go from bad to worse for City as James Clarke was shown a red card when hacking down Parsons, but they would grab a lifeline in the 62nd minute when Tyler Smith got on the end of Duffy's cross.

However, the game was put away when Tierney rounded Maher to roll home and he would then fire into the top corner three minutes from time.

Duffy would grab a consolation for Derry City from the penalty spot in added time, but it was much too little, too late as Bohemians cemented their place in third with the Candystripes in sixth.
