The Atlanta Braves avoided the sweep over the weekend against the Milwaukee Brewers, taking the series finale on Sunday by a final score of 4-2.
Atlanta has not performed well in the month of August, and with the Philadelphia Phillies heating up they need to figure things out fast. As the Braves prepare for their upcoming series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the organization decided to make a roster move on Monday.

“The Braves today recalled OF Brewer Hicklen to Atlanta and optioned INF Jim Jarvis to Triple-A Gwinnett,” the team announced.
Jarvis had a strong start to his Braves tenure through his first 10 games. With Ha-Seong Kim struggling and dealing with injury setbacks, Jarvis earned an opportunity and looked like he was running away with it early on.
Unfortunately, since the All-Star break Jarvis has been a liability offensively despite his elite glove. Across his last 28 appearances, he has hit just .173 with a .247 on-base percentage and .482 OPS. The bat simply has not been there, and Atlanta has seen enough for now.
The Braves decided to keep Brewer Hicklen with the club after he was appointed as the team’s 27th man for Sunday’s Little League Classic matchup.
Given that Hicklen is an outfielder, the Braves will likely use Mauricio Dubon up the middle alongside Kim, retaining the same defensive versatility while hoping Hicklen provides more offensive punch. In his eight appearances this year, albeit a short sample, he has been effective, going 7-for-19 with four extra-base hits and three RBIs.
With the Braves needing to right the ship heading into an important series against the Dodgers, any offensive spark off the bench could make a meaningful difference.
