It felt like today was going to be focused on a deal we already have been hearing about for months – Enzo Fernandez’s mooted move to Man City.
But out of nowhere, Fabrizio Romano has just dropped a brand new Chelsea transfer rumour on us, and it’s on a player who has had almost no links at all this summer.

Liam Delap has only been at Chelsea for one year, but after a pretty disastrous first campaign, it feels best for everyone if he moves on.
Romano says that Como, fresh from buying Trevoh Chalobah from the Blues, are now interested in the striker too. The former Ipswich man is said to be “high on the shortlist” of Cesc Fabregas’ team, and an initial approach has already been made. That’s promising news, with two weeks left in the window to sort a transfer and the Serie A side running out of time to sign a forward.
There is no mention of a loan, and it would use up one of our precious foreign loan slots, but it’s also probably on the cards given he has many years of contract left to run, and finds his stock at rock bottom right now.
