Brentford's Director of Football, Phil Giles, has expressed optimism regarding the team's prospects following a productive summer transfer window. According to Giles, the squad, under the management of Keith Andrew, "looks really strong" as the Bees prepare for the upcoming season.
The club has successfully retained the majority of the core players who contributed to their ninth-place finish in the previous season. In addition, Brentford made five strategic signings, bringing in Jannik Schuster, Jaidon Anthony, Callum Wilson, Mamadou Sangare, and El Hadji Malick Diouf. The only departures from the senior squad were Frank Onyeka, Ethan Pinnock, and Jordan Henderson.
This summer's transfer activity follows a significant overhaul in 2025, which saw the exit of long-serving head coach Thomas Frank, club captain Christian Norgaard, goalkeeper Mark Flekken, and key forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa. Reflecting on the transfer strategy, Giles noted, "Last summer, we sold more than we bought. The aim this year was to keep the squad together, build on Keith's first season, and add some extra quality. I think we did that."
