The Kansas City Chiefs could have an interesting option on the market after JuJu Smith-Schuster unexpectedly became available.

However, while Brett Veach could very well explore a reunion with the veteran wide receiver, Chiefs Kingdom has made its feelings clear. They do not want the general manager to bring Smith-Schuster back to Kansas City.

Chiefs Fans Urge Brett Veach Against Potential JuJu Smith-Schuster Move

On Tuesday, the New York Giants added veteran running back Najee Harris and made room by releasing Smith-Schuster. The update quickly caught the attention of Chiefs fans, who immediately urged the front office to stay away from a reunion.

One fan made that message especially direct, writing, “Veach, don’t even think about it, brother.”

Another supporter reacted even more strongly, writing, “Oh god please no.”

The concern over a potential move is understandable, given how it might complicate the Chiefs’ WR room.

Kansas City needs to give Jalen Royals, Andrew Armstrong, and Nikko Remigio as many opportunities as possible. Adding Smith-Schuster would make that path a tough one to walk on. His presence would move those young receivers further down the depth chart and afford them precious few opportunities to showcase their mettle.

One fan explained the preference clearly: “I’m good on Juju. If he wants to be on the PS after the season starts, sure, but he doesn’t need to be on the 53.”

Another supporter pointed to his previous role, saying, “The Chiefs were playing him 55.7% of the snaps last season. Let that sink in.”

Still, Veach has reasons to consider the move. Smith-Schuster already understands Andy Reid’s offense and has established chemistry with Patrick Mahomes.

During his first Kansas City stint in 2022, he caught 78 passes for 933 yards and helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVII. He also ranked 17th in PFN’s NFL WR Impact Rankings in 2022 with a 79.1 grade.

Smith-Schuster could also offer the Chiefs some value if their receiver room takes another hit. Kansas City needs reliable pass-catchers who understand spacing, block from the slot, and keep drives moving on short and intermediate routes.

His experience could bring stability to a young group while giving Mahomes a trusted emergency option.

One supporter is convinced a move is a foregone conclusion, writing, “He’ll be a Chief by dinner,” while another welcomed the possibility, saying, “Welcome back to KC, JuJu!”

However, Kansas City must consider the risks, especially after Smith-Schuster’s recent injury issues. His two-month stint with the New York Giants never really got going because persistent knee swelling limited him in practice.

Likewise, lower-body problems affected his production with the New England Patriots. That history raises questions about whether he can handle another demanding NFL season.

Smith-Schuster’s production has also fallen sharply from his championship peak. Across 17 games with the Chiefs in 2025, he recorded only 33 catches for 345 yards and one touchdown.
