Broncos valuation nearly doubled since sale to Walton-Penner family

It looks like the Walton-Penner family's 2022 purchase of the Denver Broncos was a great investment.

Walmart heir Rob Walton led the family's purchase of the club for $4.65 billion in 2022, and his son-in-law, Greg Penner, is now the team's controlling owner. Four years after the family bought the franchise, Sportico estimates the Broncos are now worth $9.18 billion, nearly double the price of the 2022 sale from Pat Bowlen's family.

Last year, Sportico estimated Denver was worth $6.55 billion, so this year's valuation represents a 40% increase. Amazingly, the Broncos are only the 15th-most valuable franchise in the NFL, according to Sportico's projections.

Elsewhere in the AFC West, the Las Vegas Raiders are ranked ninth ($10.1 billion), the Kansas City Chiefs are ranked 16th ($8.74 billion) and the Los Angeles Chargers are ranked 19th ($8.65 billion).

The Dallas Cowboys ($15.5 billion) remain the most valuable franchise in the NFL.
