BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) - The Cleveland Browns have officially signed veteran pass rusher Derek Barnett to a free agent contract.

According to the report, Barnett is signing a one-year deal worth $5.5 million.

Barnett spent the past two seasons with the Houston Texans. Last season, he finished the campaign with five sacks in 17 games.

Prior to his time in Houston, he spent nine seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles after being selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Tennessee.

For his career, Barnett has appeared in 112 NFL games and has piled up 216 career tackles, 34 sacks, five forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.

The Browns are in need of help at defensive end after Alex Wright suffered a season-ending ruptured Achilles tendon.
