Congratulations to Bruno Fernandes, who has won the highly prestigious PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for the very first time.
The Manchester United midfielder has been recognised by his peers as the standout performer across the 2025/26 campaign, with the prize handed over on Tuesday night, at the annual PFA Awards ceremony.
Inevitable.

Fernandes made headlines last term, as he broke the longstanding Premier League record for assists in a single term, registering 21 in total.
Bruno, who was earlier named in the Team of the Year, also scored nine goals for the Reds and was the driving force in our resurgence under Michael Carrick, as we finished third in the top-flight and qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
Bruno had already scooped the club’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year prize for an unprecedented fifth time, and he was also confirmed as the FWA’s Footballer of the Year in May.
Now he becomes the first Red since Wayne Rooney in 2010 to win this particular accolade, which is voted for by members of the Professional Footballers’ Association each spring.
It was inaugurated after the 1973/74 season and, in the time since, 10 different Reds have been acknowledged, with Mark Hughes and Cristiano Ronaldo winning twice.
Gary Pallister, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Teddy Sheringham, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ryan Giggs and Rooney all accepted the accolade as United players, and Bruno’s win makes that 12 separate successes for our club, moving us two clear of Liverpool at the top of the list.
Fernandes overcame competition from five other shortlisted names, including David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice, who all lifted the Premier League trophy with Arsenal.
Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki, of Manchester City, were also nominated.
“Winning this, being voted by the ones that every week go out on the pitch against me, is something that makes me very proud,” said Bruno.
“Because they’ve been there, they’re playing against me, they’ve seen what I’m capable of doing, and for them to vote for me is something I’m very grateful for.
“It’s always nice to see the name of the club in these kinds of awards, and obviously the players stand out with the club behind them. That’s very important for us.
