BYU's LaVell Edwards Stadium upgrades done ahead of 2026 season

There will be a few new additions to LaVell Edwards Stadium.

At the start of the 2026 football season, the BYU Cougars announced several enhancements that will "elevate the experience for recruits, players and fans." What to expect when heading to Provo this year and beyond.

The LES will have a new recruit lounge located under the east stands. The newly-constructed project at the stadium will be a central hub for recruits and their families while in Provo for a football game. This is a state-of-the-art lounge, sponsored by PACS, and will feature seating, food and beverage options and entertainment areas. Most major Power Four programs have a similar area to keep recruits away from the general fans. It's another way BYU is trying to create a memorable experience for future players and their families.

Another new lounge coming to the LES is LaVell’s Lounge, with a "hospitality and hosting" suite off the upper concourse platform between the west and north stands. Qualtrics is the sponsor of the latest addition, which replaces Gridiron Grill West. Fans will be able to enjoy upgraded food and beverage options, with TV and other amenities.

BYU is upgrading the home locker room at the LES. One of the biggest things is a technology reboot. This is the third wave in terms of locker rooms around the BYU campus. The day-to-day football locker room in the student-athlete building was renovated in 2021. Just a short time before, the visitors’ locker room at LaVell Edwards Stadium was upgraded prior to the 2024 season. This was overdue, to say the least. When Kalani Sitake said the team needed better facilities and resources, this was just the tip of the iceberg.

After extensive construction over the past several months, the northwest side of the stadium will look totally different. According to BYU athletics, the previous infrastructure connecting the west and north stands was removed and rebuilt. There's a new platform with a deeper foundation to support the addition of a new, two-story premium club level. The new suite upgrade will be finished before the 2027 season.

Outside the stadium renovations, BYU also announced game day add-ons at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Some of the experiences include a meal in the press box, photos in the locker room and press room, and having Cosmo the Cougar visit your seat. All of them come with a hefty price tag.

BYU is set to open the 2026 football season against Utah Tech on Saturday, Sept 5.
