Caitlin Clark has had a lingering back issue that saw her potential involvement in the Indiana Fever’s most recent game cast into doubt.
Prior to this week’s meeting with the Connecticut Sun, the Fever put out an update on X/Twitter that said: “Caitlin Clark, probable (back).”
Clark’s back issue has been a problem throughout much of the season, but she was able to feature against the Sun and ended up having an impressive game which saw her score 30-plus points and provide 10-plus assists for the second game in a row.
Now, she has been asked to give a health update in the post-game press conference.

How healthy do you feel right now and how much joy do you get from ‘Okay, I know I just feel good playing a game that I love’?”
The Fever star gave a positive response, saying she probably feels the best she has ever felt in her career.
Caitlin said: “Yeah, I mean I feel really good. I feel probably the best I’ve ever felt in my career, and from a like a confidence standpoint, too.
“Obviously your rookie year is a different kind of beast when you’re trying to figure out the league and figure out where you fit on a team and, you know, still do the things that you can do. And then obviously lost my second year. So, this is really only my second year in this league. I mean, I’ve only played like maybe 80-plus games in this league.
“So, you know, I feel like at times that can be a little lost to everybody on the outside world. Like, I think you feel like I’ve been in this league for a while. Like I’m still kind of finding my footing and still remembering, like, what I can do, and you know who I am and what I can bring to this team, and just having that confidence about me and allowing that to be, you know, impactful to the rest of my team. So, just continuing to do that.
“I think like it was a battle for the first 20 games for me to like really find my confidence again and mostly in my body. And now I feel like I’m just playing. I’m not thinking. I’m just like next play, next play, next play, and that’s when I play my best basketball.”
The Fever are now set to take a break for a couple of weeks due to international fixtures, but there will be no rest for Clark.
She is set to compete at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, with the USA’s first game of the tournament taking place against China on September 4.
