Caitlin Clark did more than win the latest round of her highly anticipated matchup with Paige Bueckers. She reached a statistical milestone no other player in WNBA history has come close to matching.
Clark finished with 29 points and 10 assists in the Indiana Fever’s 98-87 victory over the Dallas Wings on Friday. It marked the 20th time in her career that she recorded at least 20 points and 10 assists in the same game.
The remarkable part is the distance between Clark and everyone else. According to the Fever, no other player in league history has produced more than 10 such games.
Clark has doubled the previous standard, and she accomplished it during her third WNBA season.
Clark took control when Indiana needed itThe Fever did not cruise from the opening tip. Dallas carried a lead into halftime, creating a situation in which Indiana needed its best player to change the game. Clark responded with 16 points in the third quarter, helping the Fever erase the deficit and take control.

Instead of relying exclusively on deep shots, she attacked different levels of the defense and continued creating opportunities for her teammates.
Aliyah Boston scored 10 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter, while Kelsey Mitchell contributed 23 points. Their production illustrated why Clark’s playmaking is just as important to Indiana as her scoring.

Those numbers capture the challenge Clark presents to opponents. Defenses cannot simply force the ball out of her hands because she leads the league with 8.3 assists per game. Playing her straight up is equally dangerous, as her 21.9 points per game rank third in the WNBA. Friday’s performance also produced Clark’s 11th double-double of the season, the most by any guard.
More importantly, her historic individual production continues to translate into victories. Indiana improved to 22-12 after winning its third consecutive game and eighth in its last 10. The Fever also moved a half-game ahead of the Atlanta Dream for fourth place in the playoff standings.
Clark’s MVP resume will be debated against the league’s other leading candidates. Her standing as the WNBA’s most prolific scoring playmaker is becoming much harder to argue.
At only 24 years old, Clark has already doubled a record that every other player in league history failed to reach more than 10 times. She may only be beginning to push it out of sight.
