The Indiana Fever continued their soap opera of a 2026 WNBA season on Tuesday night with a nationally televised win over the New York Liberty. Kelsey Mitchell scored 28 points, and Caitlin Clark has a 22-point, 10-assist double-double and the Fever have now won seven of their last nine games.
The Fever look like one of the most dangerous teams in the WNBA right now and the numbers back it up. They’re averaging a league-high 96.2 points a game this season and shooting 39.4% from three as a team. Sophie Cunningham, who made 4-of-5 three-pointers in the win is the second-best three-point shooter in the league right now at 45.5%. Mitchell is fourth at 44.5%. And Aliyah Boston, the team’s third-leading scorer, is currently making 45.8% of her three-point attempts to lead the league.
And yet the top headline about the Fever on ESPN right now is “White rips critics, backed by Clark, Cunningham after fans boo.” The only thing people aren’t talking about with the Fever this season is their play on the court.

Ahead of last night’s game coach Stephanie White addressed the media and the people trying to “create narratives” and divide the team and league.
Stephanie White’s comments“The hate, the fear-mongering, the divisiveness, the stuff that’s trying to hijack our league will not win,” said White. “It won’t win. We are united. We are connected. We will not be divided. Every day these women put their ass on the line. Every day. When they go low, we go high. Love will win. Grace will win. Humilty will win. And kindness will win. I stand by them. I will always stand by them. Everybody else can go to hell.”
After the game Clark and Cunningham shared the stage for a press conference and expressed support for their coach who had come under fire for her previous comments after DiJonai Carrington’s hard foul on Cunningham.

“I think our world is just like we love to hate, we love to divide,” said Clark. “Like, that’s all we want to do. Nobody wants to see each other succeed and I think that’s a really painful thing for myself to watch. I feel like we need to do a better job at uplifting each other and I can assure you there was no way we were losing this game tonight, and I told her that before the game. There was no way we were losing this game for her. It’s tough. That’s my head coach. I hated that our fans booed her before the game. That made me a little sick to be honest.”
“And you can disagree and this and that and I get it,” Clark continued. “It’s professional sports. People are going to boo but at the end of the day that’s our head coach and we’re gonna ride for her and we’re always have her back. It’s never gonna tear our locker room apart.”
Indiana’s next game is against Paige Beuckers and the Dallas Wings on Friday night. Who knows what we’ll be talking about after that one.
